The Money Chase

My plan is to show you this blog when you are about 20 years old. If I stick to that and you are reading this as a young man, perhaps you are thinking about what you want to strive for in life. If so, there is something I want you to consider.

If your strive to chase money son - as many do - you are going to find it is a goal you never see to fruition. Sure, you will probably make a lot of it and you will probably buy a lot with it. But there will always be more to buy and hence, more money you will need to make.

In short, you will never reach the end.

However, your children will grow up … your body will grow old … and the people you love will die. This is inevitable, and one day you will reach the end of your life. When that day comes, how will you feel about the goal you chose to pursue?

I know, maybe it is a drag to think about now. Well, don’t worry. Breathe a sign of relief, because you are only 20 years old son. You haven’t wasted your life chasing money … in fact, you are just beginning it! So take a minute to think about what I have said. Think about the example I and your mother have shown.

Spend time with your children while they are young, spend time with the people you love, and do things that truly make you happy. Do this and you will be happy son.

Please, do not choose to spend your life trapped in the money chase.

Why We Have Kids
There is a lot of discussion about why people choose to have children. After all, they are a financial drag, they consume our lives, and often times don’t appreciate their parents who sacrificed everything to raise them.
Whatever.
I used to consider that discussion, but now I know exactly why we have children. It is because it is the purest form of love one can experience, and it is incredible. I have spent the first 6 months of your life talking to you over FaceTime and Skype, having only seen you in person for just a few weeks, and I still have come to think of you as the greatest thing that has ever happened to your mom and me. The feeling is incomparable, and it fills our hearts with gratification. We love you more than anything.
That’s why people have kids Charlie, because it is the only way they will ever know that kind of happiness.
… well, that and because sometimes they fail to use protection. ;)

100 Things to do Before You Die - #3 Spontaneously Kiss Someone
Charlie, you’re going to have a lot of weird kisses in your life. You will bump noses, slam foreheads (or “front-heads” as your mom says), ask permission, and probably miss completely at least once.
But don’t live your entire life never having caught a girl completely off guard with a romantic and spontaneous kiss. It is dramatic, exhilarating, and can be one of the most memorable moments of both of your lives.
And it says something about you that you had the courage to do it. Too many guys don’t.
It’s old-school son, but it’s still one of the greatest feelings you’ll ever have. I promise.

Finding the Right Person, by Ananda Rochita
I don’t know what you’ll be like when you read this or if this still applies in your life, but don’t try to find the perfect person but someone who would be perfect for you. For years my mother told me to stop going for the wrong guys, but I never really knew what that meant. It’s natural to be attracted to a person first and go from there. I also had a “type” of guys I went for that my father wasn’t too fond of. Being young is such a great time to date and meet new people, but never try to find this ideal person to be with. I don’t believe there is such a thing. “Ideal” for one person is different from the other. Be with someone who makes you want to be a better person and strive to work harder in life.
The saying that looks fade away is true. My aunt got married young, around 20, to what my mom describe as one of the most handsome men she’s ever seen at the time. A couple of years my aunt and him divorced. During my cousin’s wedding a couple of years ago, 34 years after they got married, he came with his new wife and my aunt came with my uncle (thousands of people go to Indonesian weddings so it wasn’t too awkward). My aunt’s ex husband was unrecognizable. His skin was darker, his teeth were ruined from decades of smoking, and he wasn’t the fit and buff man my mom called “attractive.” Naturally with time looks fade and even my mom didn’t even know who he was until he introduced himself.
When you get older, you’ll want to be with that person who you can talk to after a long hard day at work, a good parent, and love unconditionally. Be with the person who makes you not only feel special but also a better you.

Familia, by Tia Maggie
Charlie, your dad hasn’t written anything about us, your family… (Whats in to you Roberta??)
Let me tell you a little bit about Gonzalez-Anselmi…
I wont start with my grandpas because you will probably get bored, maybe we can talk about this in a few years. So, ill start with yours, my mom and dad.
Marga will probably be the nicest person you will ever meet, she’s kind with everyone and will always tell you everything you do is fine and everything looks good on you! She cooks like a goddess, you’ll know what I mean when you grow up and come to Uruguay. About Ricardo, he knows everything, well at least he tries to convince us that he does. He loves to read and since he discovered mac, he became a fan.
Now the fun part… Your uncles, well don’t get excited, I am the last one.
Ale and rosa. Soooo fun to see! They are always betting on something, or making jokes with black humor. Thanks to them i have meche, joaco and juampi. Cant wait to see you guys playing all together! Then we have nico, caro and little red-head tomy. We often hang out, have “mate” or have asados in their house.
Its very important to have family close to one, its nice to feel surrounded by people who love you and who don’t care if you do well at work, with your wife/husband, with your achievements (don’t care in the nice way, right?) And so on. Don’t lose contact your brothers/sisters (if you have, please vicky and rob, have another one) your parents, grandparents and uncles. I bet you they will always be happy to have you around.
Ok, so the best for the end … at least that phrase makes sense in spanish.
Me, I’m 24 at this moment, I’m in my last year of Marketing, i work in the commercial department, exportation from ECSA to Americas (usa, canada, caribe, etc) of .Mediterranean Shipping Company (its been a year and a half already) i have a boyfriend called Ernesto (tito), he is in agronomy school.
Ill come back with more stories or more about us… Besos querido enanito!

Honor Your Parents and Always Try to Make Them Proud, by Lance
This is something I have always had a close understanding of, and not because I was taught it necessarily. My sister was raised by the same parents, but she didn’t turn out so……let’s say “good.” Anyway, understand that you wouldn’t be what you are without them. They brought you to the point that you are as you read this. Know that they love you unconditionally and want to see you achieve all the things you want, and they want you to be happy.
For this reason, and others you will not understand until you have your own family, you should always reflect and ask yourself if you would make them proud. Not because they will ever not be proud of you, but because you respect them and their thoughts. Be your own man, but don’t forget why you are who you are.
Everyone starts on a foundation, and no one could be as great or terrible as they are, if not for the foundation provided by their parents or whoever raised them. Also, and perhaps even more important, be proud of yourself.

Love Her, by Lance
As I write this, I would like to believe that your father has discovered a new kind of love for your mother. When you get to the point of having your own son, you will know it too. Having a woman who you love give birth to your children is something that only words will cheapen so I will keep this short.
Treat her like a queen every day, because that is how your kids will view her and because that is what she is. There is nothing more sacred than that.

Live Life, by Barb
When you are old enough tell mom and dad to take you on one vacation a year, maybe a cruise somewhere or a road trip. Enjoy the beauty of everything around you! Breath when you need to and don’t take things so seriously. Cherish everyone in your life as if it’s the last time you will see them. Tell mom and dad you love them. Believe in yourself! You can do and be anything you want to be! You can do it!
